Christopher J. Alden is Chairman & CEO of Six Apart, Ltd., the
world's largest blogging company, makers of Movable Type, TypePad, and
Vox. Previously he was co-founder and CEO of Rojo Networks, Inc. and
before that was co-founder and a CEO of Red Herring, which he helped
launch out of his house in 1993. Prior to that founded Computer Guides,
a consultancy, and taught computer studies at Crystal Spring Uplands
School in 1992 and 1993. Mr. Alden also has a background in real estate
development and hotel management, having worked for Western Land
Corporation and Woodside Hotels & Resorts. Mr. Alden received the
Business Leadership Award from the Anderson School of Business at UCLA
in 2000.
In the non-profit realm, Mr. Alden is on the board of the Peninsula Bridge Program, which provides academic enrichment programs for low-income students. Mr. Alden is also a founding board member Lead21 and of Silicon Valley Social Ventures (SV2) and serves as an adviser to the Pacific Research Institute’s Center for Technology Studies and the Tuck Center for Private Equity and Entrepreneurship. Mr. Alden served on the board of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce from 2000 through 2002.
Mr. Alden attended Dartmouth College and received his degree in history. He lives in San Francisco with his wife and two daughters.
